A long-form I did on X/Twitter, in case it mysteriously gets deleted I’m posting it here
I’ve tried for the 2nd time to get a LinkedIn account, but have had the same issues.
- Lack of privacy
- Doesn’t consider OJ Designz a name
The internet is SO BAD when it comes to AI, data leaks, and the etc. I don’t ever trust putting up my real face (the PFP shows it’s hidden) or giving my real name.
This isn’t how it should be.
Getting a job shouldn’t be a sacrifice of personal data or fitting in the employer’s mold, it should be about enjoying your work and having the right system in place to stop bots and the etc.
Every platform says “we’re trying”, yet there’s CP bots on YT comments and Discord/Roblox is full of kid stalkers.
Every piece of data we put out there is a “permanent record” that can be misused and manipulated against us, even the least likely details.
There’s the standard for every college kid after graduating to “get a job”, yet the road is a lot harder that expected. Especially if their social security number is leaked (has been mine) and they’re targeted specifically for being inexperienced.
That’s why I’m not going to look for a job anymore, if someone likes my work and wants to hire me as a freelancer, great. But going after jobs to end up ignored, scammed, and leaked isn’t worth it.
I’m working toward my own business again for 3D Printing, that way I’ll be completely in control of my platform, finances, and peace of mind.
