Last evening we heard Gallen (the horse) make loud whinnying like there was something in the woods. Last time this happened I think I thought it was coyote, but they’re smaller than horses- so my dad figured it was a bear. I had just gotten back home from looking at some interesting tracks near my cabin (the woods are beautiful, aren’t they?), and having not seen anything, figured the bear wouldn’t be back till October. But perhaps I’m wrong, will have to check to see if there’s a nesting ground tomorrow (Update: none in the area I saw last time) (nesting ground is just bare dirt with claw marks in it, about 3’x2’ wide).

The joys of nature, having not been used to having bears out here my dad is more anxious about stumbling upon them, even though for the most part if they hear humans walking through the woods, or the loud snap of a whip, then they’ll stay clear. The worst thing is to surprise a bear, and black bears are worst than brown bears, though I don’t know which had been around. All I know is I saw a bear print a year ago.

This makes it even more important for my bear-proof fence I’ll put up soon, to work. Baiting the electric fence I’ve heard is the only way since otherwise they’ll plow through it without getting their nose zapped first. That way, when I move into the cabin hopefully before winter, I can safely get around the woods I want to keep without worrying about something being hidden behind a nearby tree. Would be nice to have some help :)

For the last few days I’ve been having a huge papaya craving. It’s probably because of the enzyme Papain in it that helps w/ post workout recovery. Go figure since I randomly sprinted what was it… half a mile? On the library trail last Tuesday. Hard to believe it’s a whole mile, anyhow the Yupik variety on Amazon are soooooooooooo tasty despite not being non-gmo.

Despite my assurance last time that I would write, alas I haven’t. The books I’ve been reading haven’t given me anything new, though I hope to continue the drafts I’ve written anyhow. Perhaps I shouldn’t worry and just… plant? I can’t seem to focus enough to 3D model stuff, then again this happens every summer. From being outside in the morning I get too tired to focus in the afternoon, then having just enough energy to cook dinner and regular things in the evening. I’ll just “keep on swimmin’ keep on swimmin’” till i see you.
